Klinsmann"s men will play Singapore at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Nov. 16 and China at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center on Nov. 21.

South Korea national soccer team coach Jürgen Klinsmann (GER) gave a rare 15-minute speech to his players ahead of the second Asian qualifier for the 2026 North and Central American World Cup. Klinsmann, who is known for his free-spirited approach to the game, wanted to get the team in the right frame of mind as the World Cup qualifiers approached.

Klinsmann"s men will take on Singapore in the first match of Group C of the North and Central American World Cup Asia Second Qualifying Round at 8 p.m. on Sept. 16 at Seoul World Cup Stadium. After the home game, the team will travel to Shenzhen, China, on Sept. 19 to face China in the second leg on Sept. 21.

Members of the South Korea national soccer team meet with head coach Jürgen Klinsmann before training ahead of the second Asian qualifier for the FIFA Confederations Cup North America 2026 at Mokdong Stadium in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, Thursday afternoon. Klinsmann"s men will play Singapore at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Nov. 16 and China at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center on Nov. 21.

After only 11 players participated in the first training session at Mokdong Sports Complex on Nov. 13, the full 23-man squad gathered for the second day of training at the same venue. Oh Hyun-gyu (Celtic) and Cho Kyu-sung (Meatwillan), who arrived on the morning of the 14th, also joined the training session.

At 4 p.m., the players warmed up lightly and Klinsmann called the players and staff together in the middle of the field.

We weren"t able to get too many details, but Klinsmann"s standing meeting lasted about 15 minutes. The players, including captain Son Heung-min (Tottenham), listened intently.

"It was the first training with all 23 players, so the coach"s story was a bit long," said an official from the Korea Football Association (KFA), explaining, "There were a lot of things that needed to be communicated, such as the behaviors that need to be followed as we approach the World Cup qualifiers."

In addition to the North and Central American World Cup qualifiers, Klinsmann also reminded the team about the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup in Qatar next January.

"Coach Klinsmann gave various motivational speeches to the players," said the KFA official. "He encouraged them to bring their families to the Asian Cup, and he also told them that they should book their hotel rooms by the final day."

A 29-year championship is just the beginning as LG sets out to b

First in regular season batting average, ERA, and more

Won the overall championship with solid power

Successful player development and FA recruitment

"V for next year, too," says first-time champion manager Yoon Kyung-yup

After 29 years of winning the Korean Series, LG Baseball"s players have earned a great honor that money can"t buy, and there"s a lot of money waiting for them on top of their salaries. LG receives about 3 billion won in postseason dividends from the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO). Add in the team bonus of 1.5 billion won, and they"ll share about 4.5 billion won. This is the "taste of victory" that only players on a winning team can enjoy.

Oh, Ji-Hwan

But LG"s eyes are already set on higher ground. Coach Yeom Kyung-yeop, who led LG to the top, said after the championship on the 13th, "This is just the beginning. We will continue to run next year and the year after." Captain Oh Ji-hwan, who was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Korean Series, added: "We will enjoy a dynasty. We want to play baseball for a long time with this team."

It"s certainly a possibility. This year, LG won the overall championship with a dominant performance that overwhelmed the other nine teams. LG hasn"t lost the top spot in the regular season since June 27 of this year. They led the league in team batting average (0.279), team ERA (3.67), and team stolen bases (166). LG had the deepest roster, regardless of pitching, and the smallest gap between starters and backups.

After becoming one of the most popular teams in the 1990s with "New Wave Baseball," LG went through a dark decade from 2003 to 2012. The team couldn"t decide between winning and developing players, and changed managers frequently. Rookie players also failed to develop properly, earning the team the stigma of being a "graveyard of promise. There were many players who realized their potential after leaving LG, such as Park Byung-ho (KT).

Ko Woo-seok

However, LG has now become one of the best at developing young players. Oh Ji-hwan, Hong Chang-ki, Moon Bo-kyung, and Moon Sung-joo, who were all in the starting lineup for the Korean Series, were all drafted by LG and made the leap from debut to starter. Closer Ko Woo-seok and the pitching staff of Jung Woo-young, Lee Jung-yong, Yoo Young-chan, and Baek Seung-hyun were all scouted by LG and grew up through LG"s development system.

Park Hae-min

Weak positions were filled with big-money free agents. In late 2017, LG signed outfielder Kim Hyun-soo from Major League Baseball (MLB) for four years and 11.5 billion won. Four years later, it retained Kim for 4+2 years for 11.5 billion won. Outfielder Park Hae-min, who was acquired in late 2021 for 4 years and 6 billion won, played both offense and defense. Catcher Park Dong-won, who was acquired for 4.5 billion won ($6.5 million) ahead of this season, was instrumental in winning the Korean Series with a solid pitching lead.

After reaching the postseason each time from 2019 to last year, LG"s players fell short of expectations, but this year"s Korean Series win gave them valuable experience. "Our team has a good mix of old and new," said Yeom. If we can develop one or two more young players every year, we can become a consistent powerhouse. We have just taken the first step."

.James Harden scored 17 points in his debut as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) but couldn"t prevent his team from losing.

Harden scored 17 points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out six assists in 31:22 of action in the Clippers" 2023-24 NBA regular-season game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York, U.S., on Sunday.

The Clippers fell to New York 97-111, exposing holes on defense, and dropped to 3-3 on the season. New York, meanwhile, snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 3-4 on the season.

The game was highlighted by Harden"s first appearance since joining the Clippers.

Harden, who was at odds with the Philadelphia 76ers over a long-term contract, joined the Clippers via trade a week ago. With Harden"s addition, the Clippers formed a "Big Four" with Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Russell Westbrook.

After taking some time to adjust to his new team, Harden made his debut that night. However, the Clippers" super-luxury roster didn"t immediately improve.

In addition to Harden, Leonard had 18 points and five rebounds, George had 10 points and seven rebounds, and Westbrook had 17 points and four assists, but they were less explosive than New York, which was led by Julius Randle (27 points) and RJ Barrett (26 points).

The Clippers committed seven turnovers in the decisive fourth quarter and gave up 35 points to New York. ?????
