\1994 LG Winning Battery\ Kim Yong-soo and Kim Dong-soo to pitch
Kim Yong-soo throws out a pitch during the regular season last year.
Kim Yong-soo and Kim Dong-soo, who formed the battery for the LG Twins" last championship in 1994, will take the field for the Korean Series in hopes of winning their first title in 29 years.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on Sunday that Kim Yong-soo and Kim Dong-soo will throw out the ceremonial first pitch in Game 1 of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO Korean Series (best-of-seven) at 6:30 p.m. at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.
LG won its second title in the 1994 Korean Series with a four-game sweep of the Pacific Dolphins. At the time, Kim Yong-soo was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Korean Series, and Kim Dong-soo was LG"s starting catcher.
As LG looks to win its first title in 29 years since 1994, the team will recreate the excitement of that championship by having the players from that championship on the field in Game 1.
The national anthem will be sung by Jang Sa-ik, who brought emotion to the closing ceremony of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics by singing the anthem in a technique reminiscent of pansori. ??????
